Liverpool could make a shock summer move to sign Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon, according to a report.

According to the Daily Mirror, Jurgen Klopp is eyeing a possible move for the 40-year-old, if he does not retire at the end of the season.

His contract does expire in June, meaning he could move on a free if he does not extend with the Bianconeri and he does not choose to hang up his boots.

Buffon has been at Juventus since he joined from Parma in 2001, making over 500 appearances for the Old Lady. However, he has only made 12 Serie A appearances this season.

The Mirror states that Buffon would consider a final move before he retires and that Liverpool would be prepared to pay big money to bring him to Anfield.

Klopp has suffered somewhat of a goalkeeping quandary this season, with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius being rotated as No.1 choice.
