Liverpool have switched their attentions to Switzerland’s World Cup keeper Yann Sommer as they look for a new number one.

The Reds have been put off by main target Alisson Becker’s asking price, forcing them to consider other options.

According to Bild, Borussia Monchengladbach stopper Sommer is now a target for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Sommer starred in the opposite goal to Alisson in Switzerland’s 1-1 draw with Brazil on Sunday.

The German source claims that Liverpool would have to part with €30m to sign Sommer, a much lower fee than Alisson’s €85m asking price.

The Swiss number one has been very impressive for the Bundesliga club since signing from FC Basel in 2014, only missing six league games in his four seasons so far.

Alternatively, Liverpool could move for fellow Bundesliga keeper Jiri Pavlenka, who has just completed his first season with Werder Bremen. The 26-year-old moved to Germany last summer for only €3m, and kept 10 clean sheets in his debut campaign.
