Famengo star Lucas Paqueta’s transfer to AC Milan could be done this month, according to the Brazilian club.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the 21-year-old attacking midfielder with the agent of Paqueta reportedly spotted on Merseyside over the weekend.

However, both clubs look set to be disappointed after Flamengo director of sport Carlos Noval said a transfer to Milan could be finalised in “two weeks”.

“It’s not a done deal with Milan yet and we prefer to talk only when things are done and dusted,” Noval told Tuttomercatoweb.

“We are talking. Negotiations are ongoing, but as far as we are concerned, they are not closed yet.

“I do think it can be finalised in two weeks, though. It should be a couple of weeks, yes.”

Italian journalist Andersinho Marques claimed that the representative of Paqueta, Eduardo Uram, had travelled to Europe to initially discuss a move with AC Milan, despite Liverpool being very much in the running for his signature.

Globo Esporte stated that Paqueta will be made available for transfer by Flamengo in the January transfer window, with a fee of around £27million being mooted and they now claim an agreement has been struck between Milan and Flamengo over a €35million deal.
