Liverpool, Man Utd interested in Serie A star subject of €45m Spurs bid

Liverpool have expressed an interest in promising Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli, according to reports in Italy, but a Premier League rival have already seen a bid rejected.

Castrovilli has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in Serie A this season, having finally been given his chance in the Fiorentina first team after a two-year loan with Cremonese in the Italian second tier.

The 23-year-old has started 24 of Fiorentina’s 26 league games, scoring three times and adding two assists, while he was also handed his senior international debut in November 2019.

According to Il Messaggero, Castrovilli is now on Liverpool’s radar, and he could be available for a fee of around €50m.

Manchester United are also said to be interested in the Italian star, but Tuttomercatoweb say that it is a third Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur, who have made the first move.

According to the report, both Spurs and Borussia Dortmund have made initial enquiries about Castrovilli – but Fiorentina are not overly enthusiastic about letting him go.

Bids of around €45m have been turned down by the Viola, but they expect more offers will come in for their midfield star in the coming weeks.

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso, however, has claimed that Castrovilli would prefer to stay with his current club – with whom his contract runs until 2024.
