Liverpool, Man Utd miss out as top target makes his choice
Liverpool and Manchester United have been dealt a major blow as one of their transfer targets appears set to stay in the Bundesliga.
The duo have reportedly missed out on a deal to sign Schalke star Leon Goretzka on a free transfer as the player has chosen to join Bayern Munich.
This is according to Christian Falk of SportBILD, who states that Goretzka has chosen a move to the Bundesliga champions despite interest from England and Italy.
Before he officially signs however, he will have to undergo a medical check at the club, and he was recently injured.
Aufgrund vieler Nachfragen: Leon #Goretzka und @FCBayern sind sich über einen Wechsel einig. Vor der Unterschrift muss aber noch der Medizin-Check erfolgen (Goretzka war zuletzt verletzt)

The 22-year-old has been at the centre of a long-running transfer saga, with speculation that he could emulate Joel Matip and leave the Gelsenkirchen club for Anfield.
Meanwhile, Italian champions Juventus were also strongly linked, but they appear to be focused on Liverpool’s Emre Can.
Goretzka would become a Bayern player in the summer, and until then he will carry on as a Schalke player and boost their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
