Liverpool, Man Utd receive word from deadly striker as three clubs rejected

Lille striker Victor Osimhen, who has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, has reportedly outlined his desire to move to either LaLiga or the Premier League.

The 21-year-old, brought in last summer to replace the Arsenal-bound Nicolas Pepe, has filled those shoes impressively with 18 goals in 38 games.

His performances are said to have attracted the interest of Liverpool and United and Jurgen Klopp’s side reportedly opened talks to sign him last month.

Liverpool boss Klopp has been linked with adding to his strikeforce in the next transfer window, amid reports Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah could miss several weeks next January while at the Africa Cup of Nations.

United, meanwhile, signed Odion Ighalo on loan on deadline day in January following Marcus Rashford’s back injury and it is unclear whether the forward will be handed a permanent deal at Old Trafford.

In other news, former United boss Louis van Gaal has spoken of his disappointment and surprise at being sacked by the club after the 2015/16 campaign.

Dutchman Van Gaal was moved on two days after tasting FA Cup glory with the Red Devils, with Jose Mourinho brought in as his successor.
