Four other Premier League clubs have joined Liverpool in the race for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz, according to reports.
Havertz has been suggested as the reason Liverpool did not try to re-sign Philippe Coutinho this summer, with Jurgen Klopp eyeing up a summer 2020 move for the attacking midfielder, who scored 20 goals for Bayer last season.
While Bayer are determined to keep him, it’s expected that an offer of €100m will be impossible for them to refuse next summer and it’s widely expected that this will be his last season at the BayArena.
It is thought that Liverpool could offer Dejan Lovren to Bayer, who had already expressed an interest in the Croatian defender, in an attempt to open the path for Havertz to move to Anfield next summer.
However, it may not be that easy, as Sport1 suggest that four other Premier League sides are targeting the 20-year-old.
Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are all interested in signing the three-time Germany international as well – although any of them may struggle to meet the German side’s valuation, warn Sport1.
Domestic rivals Bayern Munich also want to prise him away from Leverkusen, while La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are tipped to be involved in the battle to sign him.
