Jurgen Klopp places price tag on Liverpool star, who is attracting interest

Liverpool have placed their price tag on Xherdan Shaqiri this summer, according to a report.

The 28-year-old Switzerland winger has seen his first-team opportunities limited this season at Anfield due to a calf problem and various knocks.

Shaqiri has featured just 10 times this term and his time has not gone as he would have wished after six goals in 30 appearances last season.

Roma and Sevilla are understood to be interested in the player, whose contract at Anfield runs until 2023.

Calciomercato report that Liverpool will demand between £16m-18m for the former Stoke man, who was a £13m bargain buy two years ago.

Jurgen Klopp swooped for Shaqiri after Stoke’s relegation from the Premier League, with a clause in Shaqiri’s deal allowing him to leave for a cut-price fee.

Klopp is under no pressure to sell the player, and they may well loan him with an option or obligation for financially-stricken Roma to buy in order to get his £4m-per-year salary off the wage bill.

Roma tried, and failed, to bring the player back to Serie A in the January transfer window, but it’s though Shaqiri was not keen on leaving with the Premier League title in sight.

“To be honest, it’s my biggest dream to win the Premier League with this club,” he said in December. “To give the fans the title after 30 years.”

According to Football Insider Roma and CSKA Moscow have shown “firm interest”, but it is LaLiga club Sevilla who have shown the strongest admiration for a deal and are planning to move in with a bid.

According to Turkish news outlet Fotomac, Galatasary have also targeted Shaqiri in previous transfer windows and intend to go back in once the season resumes following its suspension in England until April 30 at the earliest.
