Philippe Coutinho: Has a string of admirers

Liverpool are ready to offer Philippe Coutinho a new contract to fend off interest from Barcelona, according to the Sunday People.

Coutinho is one of the hottest properties in the Premier League at the moment and his rising stature has alerted several of Europe’s big guns with PSG yesterday reported to have made the Brazilian their number one January target.

Le10 Sport claim that PSG will launch a money-no-object bid for the player and are prepared to throw in Lucas Moura as part of the deal, but Liverpool have reacted and according to today’s report they will attempt secure his future with a new deal.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form for Liverpool this term, with three assists and four goals in his eight appearances and Brazil boss Tite recently declaring “now is Philippe Coutinho’s moment”.

Tite said: “There’s a reason he is called the Magician.

“With his passes, Coutinho opens the lines, creates space. I like his mobility, he was influential in both games when he came on (against Colombia and Ecuador last month when his introduction changed both matches).”

Coutinho only penned a fresh agreement 18 months ago, but Liverpool are happy to improve his terms, after the recently-recalled Brazil star caught the eye of Luis Enrique at Barcelona.

Coutinho’s current contract with the Merseyside outfit runs until 2020, but he is in line for a big raise in the New Year, along with Adam Lallana.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp recently signed a new six-year contract to tie him to Anfield until 2022 and the German wants his keys players tied to similar deals.

England man Lallana has two years left to run on his contract at the end of the season and he could also be offered new terms, while Dejan Lovren is another player who could be handed an improved contract.
