Liverpool ruled out as Thiago brother suggests Man Utd transfer is on

Thiago Alcantara

Reported Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara could be about to secure a move to Manchester United.

The Bayern Munich midfielder has been tipped to move to the Premier League after rejecting a new deal at the Allianz Arena.

Spanish outlet Sport claimed earlier this month that a move to Liverpool looked likely. They stated “negotiations are very advanced between the player and club and only the economics have to be worked out between the two sides”.

Jurgen Klopp is said to be a “long-time admirer” of the Spain midfielder from his time as Borussia Dortmund boss.

However, despite an admission from Bayern Munich that he could leave this summer, Klopp isn’t certain of a deal.

Asked being asked if the Spain star is a summer target, Klopp gave a typical response.

Klopp replied: “Would you be surprised if I didn’t answer? I never answer this type of question!

“He’s a really good player I like a lot but I like many others out there. That’s all I have to say about him.”

Our exclusive last week revealed that Klopp and Liverpool had definitely ruled out a move for the Spain star.

However, with a £30m asking price around his neck, BILD reports the player is definitely on the move. They state his house in Munich has now been put up for sale – a sure sign he’s leaving.

Thiago has 12 months left on his deal and Bayern are keen to ensure they don’t lose him for nothing in a year’s time.

CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed their plans to sell: “We had serious negotiations with him and fulfilled all of his wishes. But it looks like he might want to do something new again at the end of his career.

“We have never had any contact with Liverpool. If he wants to do that, we have to deal with it.

“We don’t want to lose a player for free next year. I say that very clearly.”

Man Utd next for Thiago

However, the player could be Premier League bound with a switch to Manchester United now on the cards.

In an interview with his younger brother Rafinha, Sport has states he says he’s ‘about to leave Bayern Munich and sign for Manchester United.’

Thiago Alcantara

United have got history with Thiago too and came close to signing the player in 2013.

Just before his exit from Barcelona that summer, he’d stated his wish to play in the Premier League. United, then managed by David Moyes, were understandably linked.

However, Thiago moved instead to Bayern Munich, while Moyes instead shelled out £27.5m to sign Marouane Fellaini.

However, if Rafinha – currently playing for Celta Vigo – is right, then a move to Old Trafford finally looks on.
