Liverpool secure important deal as Alexander-Arnold commits for long-term

Trent Alexander-Arnold Liverpool v Crystal Palace May 2021

Liverpool have tied Trent Alexander-Arnold down to a new contract that will reportedly last until 2025.

Alexander-Arnold has gone from Liverpool academy product to first-team regular. Now established as one of the best in his position in the Premier League, the 22-year-old has been a success story for his boyhood club. Their association will now continue for another four years.

Liverpool did not confirm the length of the new deal, merely describing it as “long-term”, but various outlets indicate that it will last until 2025.

To date, Alexander-Arnold has made 179 appearances for Liverpool, with 10 goals to his name and many more assists.

The full-back has four medals in his cabinet, having been part of the Liverpool side that won the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup and Premier League.

“I’m honoured to be given the opportunity and to be shown the trust in the club to be given an extension, so it was a no-brainer for me,” Alexander-Arnold told Liverpoolfc.com.

“The state the club is in and where I’m at in my career is always a good option for me. To extend and make sure I’m here longer is always a good thing. I’m made up.

“It’s the only club I’ve ever really known, so to be here for this amount of time and extending to be here for a longer amount of time is amazing for me and my family.

“It’s a proud moment for me – it always is – signing a new contract here. To be given the trust, like I said before, by the club and the staff is an amazing feeling.

“I’ve achieved so many dreams and goals that I never actually thought I would.

“I live the dream every day really. Being able to represent the club and to be in and around names and players, and obviously managers and staff, that are world class every day is a privilege for me and I’m very fortunate to be in the position I am.”

Liverpool busy with new contracts

Alexander-Arnold may not be the only player to sign a new contract this summer at Liverpool. A previous report named him as one of six players at the club for whom the board were working on new deals.

Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, Andy Robertson, Fabinho and Virgil van Dijk are all also in line to pen fresh terms.

Salah, van Dijk and Fabinho are all out of contract in 2023. So, securing their services for the long-term will be a fairly urgent issue for Liverpool.

Alisson and Robertson have one additional year left on their deals. But it will still be important for Liverpool to get them to commit.
