Liverpool set their sights on new £100m winger target

Liverpool have now reportedly set their sights on a move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has ditched a summer move for Thomas Lemar, according to the Liverpool Echo with the Monaco man understood to be intent on moving to Barcelona.

Lemar was a target for Liverpool during the last two transfer windows, but it seems as though the French winger is high on Barca’s wanted list and Klopp has abandoned his chase for the player.

Klopp has now switched his attentions to 20-year-old Bailey, who is in a rich vein of form and one of the Bundesliga’s hottest properties.

Already though Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham scouts have been making checks on the Jamaican, who has 10 goals and five assists in 22 games this season.

The Sunday Mirror/Sunday People claim Liverpool have now joined the race for Bailey, but Bailey who is under contract until 2022 will not come at a bargain price.

The report claims “sources in Germany” suggest Leverkusen want £100million for Bailey, who signed for Bayer from Genk just over 12 months ago.
