Joao Mario: Linked with Chelsea and Inter Milan

Liverpool have been ‘sounded out’ about a deal for Joao Mario deal and remain interested in Ben Chilwell, Saido Mane and Mahmoud Dahoud.

Liverpool have already signed Loris Karius, Joel Matip and Marko Grujic for next season, but Jurgen Klopp appears to be targeting plenty more signings before the end of the summer.

It was reported by Portuguese newspaper A Bola on Thursday that Klopp had turned his attention to Mario having missed out on Udinese’s Piotr Zielinkski and with Mario Gotze deciding to stay at Bayern Munich.

Gotze continues to be linked with a transfer regardless, but the Daily Mail says Liverpool have indeed been approached about Mario, who is expected to leave Sporting Lisbon this summer.

Jose Mourinho insists Manchester United will not sign any player from Portugal this summer, but Chelsea are reported to have met with Mario’s agent, Jorge Mendes, last month. However, it would appear Liverpool are now in pole position to sign the 23-year-old, who is said to want a move to the Premier League.

More Liverpool transfer speculation

Borussia Monchengladbach’s Dahoud is another midfield target, according to the Daily Mail, with Leicester City’s Chilwell also still in Klopp’s sights as he looks to add a new left-back to his squad. The German is also apparently ‘maintaining an interest’ in Southampton forward Mane.

Philippe Coutinho, meanwhile, is a target for Paris Saint-Germain, according to Le Sport 10 in France, with the Ligue 1 champions willing to spend £46million to lure the Brazilian away from Anfield.

Klopp will no doubt fight hard to keep hold of Coutinho, but one player that looks certain to move on this summer is Martin Skrtel, with Besiktas lodging a £7million bid.

Christian Benteke is an alternative target for Chelsea should they fail to land Romelu Lukaku, according to The Times, but it is claimed Rangers will not be pursuing a move for Kolo Toure on a busy day of transfer speculation involving the Reds.
