Elliott a bright Liverpool prospect

Great game, special mention to Elliot, he seems like a gem… I’ve seen anything quite like him at the club before, not for a 16 year old… He drifts out a bit but he comes back into the game, trying to impact it in a positive way, thats a chance created or almost a goal every 30 minutes… Brewster looked a little bit off the pace but thats to be expected, Oxlade impacted the game much than before, Keita made an appearence, Lovren did good sweeping up. The minutes were great for Gomez as well and Milner upholds his record. Lallana finally finished a game and Kelleher is the one that got us a clean sheet. Thats a very positive result….

IF harvey elliott is properly nurtured and integrated into the first team by no later than his 18-19th birthday as a first teamer under the tutelage of klopp – he doesnt need pace or power – his creativity is there for all to see. I think we just may have our very own english david silva

Didnt watch the game but heard plenty of positives about Elliott hopefully he should get some more game time this season due to the amount of games we have got.

United would struggle against kids

Never left a match early before in my life, but I’m on my way back to the car now, cos that is f****** atrocious.

They just haven’t got a clue. Fred gets caught in possession, pereira can’t control it, Chong runs down blind alleys, Rojo shoots from 40 yards, Pogba misses headers from 6 yards out, and lingard just stands there offering nothing.

No tempo, no urgency, no pace, no passion, no heart.

Disgusting.

Feel lifeless… totally lifeless… this club is breaking my heart each time I watch a match…

Sympathy for the Devils

It honestly feels like we would struggle against a group of 10 year olds, that’s how labored, lethargic and clueless we look. I don’t want to be hard on the kids; they should be free to express themselves, make mistakes and gradually learn from more seasoned pros but it’s hard when said “seasoned pros” perform a disappearing act every time they put their smartphones down and are expected to perform as footballers. The likes of “world cup winner Paul Pogba” and “England international Jesse Lingard” are supposed to make a difference but all they make is us supporters want to vomit. Jones, Mata, Fred and Rojo are as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle and Pereira looks like he could fall apart any minute. That’s just the start and I’m afraid none of the kids will make it as long as they players, they’re supposed to look up to, are as devoid of talent and character as this lot.

roygbiv

I expect Pogba was too tired to take a penalty after carrying Fred and Perreira around midfield for 90 mins…

Positives from the match are Tuanzebe and Greenwood. Would really like to see Tuanzebe alongside Maguire. Greenwood looks like he’s got a real chance of making the grade, can’t remember the last time I saw such a genuinely two footed player.

Guendouzi Arsenal’s best midfielder?

have to say this boy is by far our best young player.after aub he’s been our best player this season and he’s only 19??he made the mistake for villa’s first goal but his 2nd half performance was outstanding.he drove the team forward and won the penalty and had a hand in the 2nd.no disrespect to xhaka but he’s been in guendouzi’s pocket all season.

why the hell is guendouzi taking the ball off our defenders and not the more experienced xhaka?i’ve got a theory that emery may’be sees xhaka has the better passer and looks to push him further up to feed our front 3 but it’s not working is it?the young lad plays with no fear and if he does make a mistake he gets on with it and gives 100%.for me he gave the best individual performance at citeh last season where he wouldn’t have looked out of place in their team.after aub i have to admit the young lad is my fav player.a future afc capt and he can be anything he wants to be.one of the best young players i’ve seen in all my time supporting afc.he will be world class and i don’t sat that often on young players.

steve68

I agree Steve he has been really impressive and only 20. If he continues to improve he’ll be one hell of a player – one of the bright points of the season is we definitely have a great group of youngsters, I am really impressed with Wilcock as well.

fatmop

I like the guy and think he’s a great player but not sure if he’s good enough to elevate us to the next level. I personally would replace him as I think we can do better in there and we are relying on a 19 year old after all. I would have two new midfielders in place of Xhaka and Guendouzi imo especially the former!

the bsm walk

Overhyped.Nonetheless a sure future star.

He’s too raw, still developing, still improving.Don’t think he’s good enough to start just yet.just because he shows glimpses of his potential,it’s not enough. It’s like he has a game of two halves. He reminds me more of Rambo than anyone else. And i do think he should play further more advanced as he lacks a bit of discipline. But the potential is surely there.

He’s given the benefit of the doubt far too many times though.Maybe he can start next season,or the season after.I don’t know when but it will come with experience.
Our win % isn’t great when he starts,we seem to win more matches without him.
Either way,I’m convinced he’s going to be world class in the future.
But for now,we need to sign atleast two top class, experienced and reliable midfielders and get ceballos permanent as well.

Lovren, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain blasted

Ox and Hoever have been terrible so far..

Razor

I mean you’d just expect so much more from Ox though. He’s already gotten his feet wet this season. Did he even complete a pass? Good to see that Lovren is still a disaster waiting to happen. Brewster really quiet with no service. Hoever just looks nervous and clumsy, probably trying too hard.
Positives: Elliot doesn’t look out of place when he’s on the ball. Kelleher other than that handball incident showing the benefits of a sweeper keeper. Gomez has been a calming influence in that backline. Jones has been getting himself into good positions but just hasn’t had the confidence or decisiveness to make it count. Keita keeping it tidy but lacking a bit of sharpness.

Razor

Our right hand side isn’t the strongest tbf with Hoever, Elliot and Ox. Not a lot of experience there compared to other side.

gingerlfc

Few things really got to me. Lovren and Gomez had no understanding at all. When Gomez went out to cover Hoever, Lovren didn’t adjust his position. It’s like he didn’t even bother aside from the constant mistakes. Showed exactly why he’s 4th choice. Not sure how Jones got MOTM. A lot of his 2nd half play was lazy. If I saw one of my players not even attempting to reach a ball they’d get a rollicking and he did it multiple times. Brewster just looked to be playing for himself. No attempt at all to drop into the hole to get on the ball more and he didn’t look great on it. Other than the goal Hoever looked lost most of the game and couldn’t handle the physicality. Ox was awful.

Elliot by far MOTM for me. This kid is special. His awareness is incredible for someone his age, not just in an attacking sense but defensively as well. Still needs to bulk up a bit though. Kelleher made some good saves and his distribution and footwork was superb but there were a few moments that still showed his inexperience. Naby doesn’t look too far away from a proper return.

Razor

The difference between us and Dons is thast we took the chances. They had chances to succeed 2-3 goals because our defence was very bad. Our attack was good and created chances. I feel a bit lucky that we qualified in the next round.
Unfortunately
Lallana does not exist
Ox not ready yet
Keita just returned

Hudson-Odoi looking good after injury

Well that was a much better second half. James really grew in to the game and looks very promising, Gilmour made some errors but overall played very well in centre pairing with Barkley, especially as he was often left alone in the centre of the park as Barkley got forward. CHO looks really sharp and raring to go and decent debut from Guehi too.

Not much chemistry as you could expect but lots of talent coming through for sure.

Luckydestiny

Great result. A young team. Was it the youngest ever Chelsea team? 7-1, CHO & Reece James each registered a goal and an assist. Impressive. Man Utd next round will be tough. Not happy with the draw but at least we’ll play at home. And still better than facing Pool or City or Arsenal.

I don’t think we should rush those 2 CHO and James though. I believe they will be starter sometime soon but probably not next match against Brighton

aindro

Good to get a home win!! Boys against men tonight and we were totally different class. The boys are looking very good. I reckon Pulisic looks a little lost right now though. Probably one that will bloom in time.

Re the next round and United, we owe them one – glad we have got them at home. They are in total disarray right now and our lads will be hungry to have a right good go at them. 4-0 and that’ll be Ole’s swansong. Well that’s the dream anyway.

chelsea1967

Great to see so many young players looking real good as pointed there’s some real potential there however on a critical point the centre half pairing of Zouma and Tomori looked shakey on defense. Maybe should think about playing Azpliqueta with Rudiger, this will also James to fit in right away at fullback and probably strengthen that area as well. For me Zouma, Christiansen are not the answer while it’s too early to judge Tomori though his a bit on the short side for a centre half.

United need a detailed plan

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer TEAMtalk

Ole should be applauded for the deadwood he’s managed to get rid of and the 3 players he’s brought in but thats where his credit stops. For far too many years we’ve had to watch a dis-jointed team with no style, cohesion or passion. This has to improve by the end of season or Ole or the coaching staff have to go. We might not have the best players anymore but we should be able to play with a bit of style so that we at least look like a team that is being properly coached. I can take the defeats for a few seasons as long as there appears to be some progress in the way we play.

yorkshireman200

If we don’t finish 4th then that’s two season without CL football. I don’t think the likes of Sancho, Eriksen, Dybala and co would be interested in signing for us.

It’s going to be a tough season and the last transfer window about ensuring there was enough quality to get 4th and attract the players who can get us challenging next season.

If you was a top player would you consider playing for us next summer without top 4?

Scholsey

City managed to construct a title winning team by offering players top dollar. It can be done but there has to be a plan, our problem has been the scattergun approach to transfers that has left us in the position we’re in.
