Liverpool talks due for thrilling winger capture; new Prem move for star Klopp couldn’t rely on intertwined

Juventus winger Federico Chiesa

Liverpool are one of the clubs that Juventus will be hoping to speak to regarding the sale of Federico Chiesa during an upcoming trip by their directors, according to a report.

Chiesa has emerged as a possible target for Liverpool amid uncertainty about his situation at Juventus. Only two years remain on his contract with the Serie A side, who are under pressure to sell players in order to balance the books this summer.

Although Liverpool are well stocked in attack, the opportunity to sign a talent like Chiesa – and prevent rivals from capturing him instead – may be too good to turn their noses up at.

Liverpool face competition from Aston Villa and Newcastle in the race to sign Chiesa. According to the latest from Corriere Dello Sport, Juventus directors are flying to England in an attempt to generate more concrete interest from those three clubs.

Talks are set to be held with Liverpool, Aston Villa and Newcastle about a transfer for Chiesa. Previous reports have hinted it might cost a fee in the region €40m (£34.4m).

As things stand, it is unclear who exactly is the favourite to sign Chiesa. The Italy international only scored four goals from 33 appearances across all competitions last season.

His overall record for Juventus includes 22 goals from 94 appearances. Previously, he earned a positive reputation for how he developed at Fiorentina.

Still only 25 years old, Chiesa could yet develop into a very useful asset to whoever takes him next.

Liverpool flop Arthur could leave Juventus for Brighton

He is not the only player Juventus are aiming to offload. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the likes of Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Sandro, Denis Zakaria and Weston McKennie are on the market as well.

Per Corriere Dello Sport, discussions could also be due relating to an exit for Dusan Vlahovic. Another potential casualty mentioned by both papers is Arthur Melo.

The Brazil international was on loan at Liverpool last season, but failed to make his Premier League debut. Injury issues were partially to blame, but even when he was available, Jurgen Klopp preferred to rely on other options.

Nevertheless, Arthur might get a second chance in the Premier League, since Corriere Dello Sport claims he has become of interest to Brighton.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have already acquired one midfielder leaving Liverpool this summer in the shape of James Milner. Alexis Mac Allister headed the other way, though, in a separate deal.

Brighton are also bracing themselves for interest in Moises Caicedo, which may open up another void to fill in their midfield.

Arthur is someone who could step into the role, but only if Brighton can find a compromise with his €6m annual wages (around £99,000 per week).

If he does join Milner at Brighton, Arthur will get to compete in the Europa League next season, just like each of them would have been able to by staying at Liverpool.
