Long-term Liverpool target Nabil Fekir is close to completing a surprise transfer to a La Liga side, according to reports in France.
French midfielder Fekir was the subject of a very public transfer pursuit from Liverpool last summer, with the Reds eventually retracting from the chase over concerns about a knee injury.
Lyon are open to selling him this year, with sporting director Juninho Pernambucano recently confirming that it would be difficult for the Ligue 1 side to keep hold of him.
There had been talk of Liverpool going back in for the World Cup winner, but along with AC Milan and a range of other suitors, they look set to be disappointed as the midfielder nears a move to Real Betis.
The Seville-based club are worried about losing key playmaker Giovani Lo Celso to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, so Le Parisien claim that Fekir is their main target to replace him.
More than just interest, the report claims that the two clubs have been in talks over the player for the past few weeks, and are set to meet at an agreement of €30m.
Fekir could sign a five-year contract worth €7m per season at Betis – but it all hinges on whether or not Lo Celso’s proposed move to Spurs goes through. If the former PSG man does not end up leaving for White Hart Lane, then Betis will have no need to take Fekir.
