Italian powerhouse Juventus have emerged as favourites to sign the highly-rated Liverpool target Fabian Ruiz from Napoli, according to a report.
Ruiz has impressed since his move to Naples one year ago, attracting the interest from a swathe of Europe’s elite such as Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City and now Juventus.
Liverpool had been rumoured to be the likeliest destination should the 23-year-old wish to try his hand in the Premier League, with Jurgen Klopp’s side reportedly looking to line up a January swoop for the man who was instrumental in their 2-0 defeat a fortnight ago.
Now, a report from Spanish publication Don Balon (via CalcioMercato.com) claims that Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus have jumped to the head of the queue as they look to tighten their stranglehold on Serie A.
The article states: ‘The 23-year-old is one of the hottest property in Europe and has been attracting interest from the likes of Spanish giants FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.’
‘It is believed that Barcelona have identified Ruiz as the number of target for the summer transfer window in 2020.’
‘However, as per the latest development, Juventus have entered race to sign the Spain international next summer as well.’
Relations between the two Italian sides have been frosty since Gonzalo Higuain’s transfer from Naples to Turin in 2016, which could yet leave the door ajar for the Reds.
The article concludes: ‘[Napoli will] more than likely […] ask for a premium from the Bianconeri in order to let the player join them’.
