Liverpool-linked Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus has denied that he has an agreement to join Bayern Munich.

Reports on Tuesday claimed that the Germany international has sealed his next exciting career step. With two years left on his contract, he supposedly reached an agreement to move to the Bundesliga champions in the summer of 2022. Indeed, new Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann reportedly had a hand in the move.

The decision would also have come as a blow to Liverpool; Neuhaus reportedly vowed to move to Anfield if he was to move anywhere.

Speaking to TZ, though, the 24-year-old has set the record straight over his future.

He said: “I read that my move to FC Bayern in 2022 was already a done deal. I can clearly deny that here and now.

“I haven’t signed a contract anywhere except with Borussia Mönchengladbach. I feel very much at home there at the moment.”

Nevertheless, he reiterated that he would be open to a move to Bayern in the future.

Neuhaus added: “Home is a very important point for me. I can well imagine living in Markt Kaufering again later.

“But I also found a piece of home in Dusseldorf [after a loan spell at Fortuna in 2017-18], where I met my girlfriend, and I feel very comfortable at Gladbach.”

Neuhaus has emerged as one of Germany’s brightest midfield talents. While he made his senior international debut in October and has made four further appearances, a strong season saw him included in his country’s Euro 2020 squad.

Joachim Low’s side remain one of the big contenders to triumph this summer and Neuhaus added that his country have solid options at their disposal, including Thomas Muller and Mats Hummels.

“For Germany, the strongest players should always appear,” he added.

“I think we have a very good squad with a good mix. With Thomas and Mats, I wouldn’t always just emphasise their experience, they bring a lot more with them on and off the pitch.

“They can simply give a lot to the team with their footballing qualities. They are also two good guys who bring a good atmosphere to the team.”
