Liverpool trio nowhere near ready; big Man Utd win papered over cracks

Three Liverpool stars looked rusty in the shock draw at Shrewsbury, while Man Utd’s big FA Cup win papered over the cracks  – all in Your Says of the Day.

LIVERPOOL TRIO STRUGGLE AT SHREWSBURY

Complacency of the highest order by Liverpool.

I bet Klopp will be having some strong words with the boys tonight.

The only advantage is that our squad and youth players will get some more game time, and experience

Songman

FairPlay to Shrewsbury. Fully deserved a draw and what a huge thing for them to go to anfield now

Matip, Lovren and fabhino are all clearly very rusty after being injured for a while

Sean the sailor

There is nothing wrong with a replay, everybody that played needs the game time…

NotoriousBingo

I agree with Bingo – all of those players that started today need more game time to improve their levels significantly from that. Let’s face it, apart from Adrian, none of those starters are getting anywhere near the PL/CL starting XI. How bad were Lovren, Matip and Fabinho collectively?

Strange how much better we were against Everton when we played all of the ‘kids’. When we put out a hybrid team of kids and fringe/squad/bench players, it just didn’t work.

Red Herring

Klopp disagrees with you.

He’s just confirmed that him and his team will not be taking part in the replay and that Neil Critchley will take charge of the kids for that game while Klopp focuses on the main team during the winter break.

I suppose this result means that Shrewsbury (fair play to them) are a better side than Everton though that’s not saying much!

Scouser in exile

100% the right decision by Klopp to give the first team a holiday, and not manage the replay.

That’s what a true leader does, stands by his decisions

Songman

I think also Klopp is highlighting the ridiculousness of the fixture calendar.
He’s been at this for months now and rightly so.
There’s gonna be additional CL group games soon, add in AFCON, Euros, World cups and it’s just getting outta hand. Something’s gotta give and it’ll be the domestic cups.

gingerlfc

Have no problem with Klopp’s resting of the 1st team for the replay. Klopp’s hand was forced in today’s selection as we’ve had injuries to our reserve first team players in Shaqiri and Keita. And Salah, Firmino & Mane have played continuously for over a year having played in the AFCON & Copa America last summer. We simply don’t have the luxury teams like City still have.

BACK TO REALITY AFTER BIG UNITED WIN

That was a very pleasant surprise. Tranmere were as rubbish as their pitch is but a good win for confidence.

Back to reality vs City on Wednesday.

hatters

Games like these are about being clinical and professional. Who knew this lot had that in them? Tranmere are truly awful but hopefully the players will regain a bit of confidence because boy are they going to need it when they return to the reality of the Premier League.

OLE AT THE WHEELS…..After this game Ole head is BIG again!!!

Men against boys yesterday, but a refreshing change.

MERSON BANG ON ABOUT MAN UTD EIGHT

Paul Merson reckons Fred, Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James, Jesse Lingard and Scott McTominay are all below the level required for a club of Manchester United’s stature. Now you may or may not like Merson but he’s right in my opinion. He’s also said on numerous occasions that he thinks United are the biggest club in the world, so no axe to grind. Take note, all of Solskjaer’s summer signings are in that list.

jm1502

Agree with Merson and you mate. Problem is Man United are not doing anything to prevent it on the contrary, the torture never stops with Glazers Woodward and puppet on a string OGS.

Zico

Oh by the way, how did he miss out on the rubbish Rojo, Jones, Shaw, Matic and Pereira?

homerjay540

Paul Merson is being a bit silly here,AWB,James & MCT have got plenty of time to improve. As for the oiltanker Maguire, yes we have been bummed deep & hard, but its done & dusted now.Rojo,Jones,Lindeflop,Matic,Mata,Martial,Shaw-these are players that are rubbish, and alongside DDG all should be sold.As Liverpool have proved,we dont really need to spend hundreds of millions to fight for major trophies, just need the right manager in charge.

ps:Martial, just like Pogba, yes talented but doesnt give a fook about anything/anyone.

CHELSEA STAR SHINES IN CUP WIN

Poor all over the pitch today imo bar maybe Azpi, Tomori and Kovacic who unfortunately commited the cardinal sin of jumping out of the way you have to stand strong in the wall.

Plus the same old problem of dominating but not taking our chances which let Hull back into it.

But we’re in the hat for the next Round and that’s all that counts.

nine nine nine

Another very average performance which is worrying as it’s going to become much more difficult opposition. One silver lining is Gilmour, needs to start getting regular game time. I still don’t know if Lampard knows what his best defense is, don’t think any of us do know.

Blueowner

Stuilse and Blueowner, agree lads young Gilmour shone when he came on it can’t be long before he’s getting regular game time

nine nine nine

I saw utube clips of Gilmour playing for Rangers I think it was, it’s amazing how everytime he turns around with the ball he has a whole lot space, don’t see that every week.

Blueowner

Thought Kovacic had a pretty good game apart from that one defensive blunder for their goal. He has a good range of passes from mid-field pinging the ball over the place and pretty accurate too.

chelsea1967

Apart from the last 15 minutes, we had been good but was missing goals to show for. people are just focussing that we lost Hazard. but they are forgetting that we also lost an assist king in Fabregas. he would have been the one we would be calling to unlock the stubborn defences. and we never managed to replace him. we have managed to replace the goals of Hazard as we are in a better position than we are at this stage last season. but Fabregas assists and inch-perfect passes are missing and we need to find that. we need to replace the creativity of Fabregas. if you want to see what we are missing, you must watch our FA cup tie with Hul in 2018 and Pedro’s goal.

Chelsea.man

Chelseaman, i don’t agree with you on that one. we are not missing Fabregas, we are missing a quick build up in our play. we often seem to give teams time to regroup. our counter attacks is slow, our build up is slow, we take many touches before we pass which allows teams to regroup and defend us in numbers. and part of that is that we have lost Hazard who used to move the ball quicker, plus we have Jorginho he lacks pace and physicality in winning the ball quicker when the opposition is disorganized, unless we sort out these factors, this problem will be here to stay. but i trust Lampard to sort it.

ARTETA GOING FOR THE CUP?

It will be interesting to see how seriously we take the FA Cup and what sort of the team we put out. Based on recent performances 1-1 stands a chance.

The Oracle

Shifty predicts a draw! Coupon banker then!

Judging by the previous round Arteta will take it seriously, so although there might be a couple of changes it will be a strong side.

It’s the FA cup so it’s never easy to predict but I think we have enough to win it. I’d like to see Nketiah start.

fatmop

i think we will win this one

2-0
