Date published: Thursday 14th April 2016 11:43

Divock Origi and Philippe Coutinho were the star men as Liverpool came from behind to secure a dramatic 4-3 win over Borussia Dortmund to clinch a place in the Europa League semi-finals.

Liverpool ratings

Simon Mignolet: Pulled off good early save, couldn’t help opening two goals. Vital hand from Piszczek cross to deny Aubameyang. Exposed for third goal. 6

Alberto Moreno: Vulnerable at full-back for Liverpool, caught out in the first half on numerous occasions with both goals coming from his side. A new left-back has got to be on Jurgen Klopp’s wish list this summer. 5

Mamadou Sakho: No where to be seen for Aubameyang’s goal as the Reds went 2-0 down, but more than made amends by heading in the equaliser as Liverpool came back from 3-1 down. 7

Dejan Lovren: Found it tough to hold back Dortmund in the early stages but showed great commitment and grabbed dramatic winner. 7

Nathaniel Clyne: Worked well down the right once Liverpool got going in the first half. Constant threat on the overlap, but got caught going forward too often. 6

Emre Can: Conceded a couple of sloppy early fouls and was lucky to avoid a yellow card. Great ball to play Divock Origi through for the first Liverpool goal. 7

James Milner: Standard display from the Liverpool captain on the night, effort and work rate couldn’t be faulted. Failed to beat the front man on a few corners but also produced a couple threatening crosses. 7

Adam Lallana: Linked well with Origi but missed golden opportunity with terrible mis-kick. 6

Philippe Coutinho: Loose pass led to Dortmund’s opener but thereafter was a bright spark in the Liverpool attack and took his goal very well. 8

Roberto Firmino: Briefly looked up for the challenge as Liverpool tried to fight back at 2-0 but was unable to sustain his promise. 6

Divock Origi: Star man on the night. Made some brilliant runs and provided great link-up play. Looked lively in opening stages and always looked a main threat for the Reds. Started off the comeback with cool finish at the Kop end. 9

Joe Allen (for Lallana, 62): Gave Liverpool more bite in midifeld. 7

Daniel Sturridge (for Firmino, 63): Provided more attacking threat but chances did not come his way. 6

Lucas (for Can, 80): Gave Liverpool fresh legs for their final push. 7

Borussia Dortmund ratings

Roman Weidenfeller: Barely tested in the first half with the home side struggling to find the target, caught out for Origi’s goal and could not prevent Coutinho’s. 6

Lukasz Piszczek: Composed figure in defence and made some strong forward runs. 7

Sokratis Papastathopoulos: Vital block in first half. Organised and dangerous when getting forward. 6

Mats Hummels: Solid first-half performance from the Dortmund captain, underlined his class by bringing the ball out and then sliding in a fine ball for Reus’ goal. 7

Marcel Schmelzer: Threatening down the right for Dortmund, early 40-yard run should have resulted in third goal but cross was tipped away from danger by Mignolet. 7

Julian Weigl: Dictated play for Dortmund. On such a massive occasion, the 20-year-old put in an assured, mature display. 7

Gonzalo Castro: Showed good vision to keep Dortmund moving and whipped in delivered some dangerous balls. 7

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Opened scoring with cool finish. A danger to Liverpool whenever in possession, lively from the start. 8

Shinji Kagawa: The former United man worried the Reds repeatedly with his runs and good link-up play. 7

Marco Reus: Superb run and pass to set up Aubameyang goal, got on the scoresheet himself and showed fine technical ability. 8

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Had threatened before he scored Dortmund’s second with a thunderous strike, underlining why he is so highly rated. 8

Matthias Ginter (for Kagawa, 77): Unable to make an impression as Liverpool roused themselves in latter stages. 6

Adrian Ramos (for Reus, 83): Could not repel the late Liverpool onslaught. 5

Ilkay Gundogan (for Castro, 83): Reported Manchester City target appeared too late to make an impression as Liverpool pressed. 5
