Liverpool ‘very interested’ in PSG wonderkid Pep Guardiola directly asked for at Man City

Liverpool are reportedly ‘very interested’ in Paris Saint-Germain youngster Warren Zaire-Emery, who Pep Guardiola has apparently asked for at Manchester City.
Zaire-Emery looks like a very exciting talent that will thrive wherever he ends up. That he made his senior debut for PSG at 16 years of age and became their youngest-ever player in the process showed promise.
That promise continued to be shown as he racked up 31 appearances throughout the season.
Indeed, a huge side like PSG would not allow such a young player to appear as often if they didn’t see him as a special talent.
He’s done a lot right in the games that he’s played, too. Zaire-Emery scored two goals in Ligue 1 this season, the first of which came against big name Monaco.
For a 17-year-old to already be impacting senior games shows he could have a very bright future.
That’s been identified by some big names across the Channel. The first Premier League side to be linked with the youngster were Arsenal, as sporting director Edu would have apparently loved to sign him.
While that interest was lodged in January, it was suggested a bid was more likely to come in the summer.
Man City keen on Zaire-Emery in potential swap
It’s unclear if the Gunners are still part of the race to land the exciting youngster. However, a couple of Premier League rivals are in the hunt.
Man City boss Guardiola reportedly ‘adores’ the midfielder, as per French outlet RMC Sport.
The Citizens could have a good chance at snaring him, too. Indeed, amid PSG’s long-standing interest in Bernardo Silva, it’s said they have offered City ‘different’ players in order to bring down his asking price.
A recent report suggested Gianlugi Donnarumma and Marco Verratti were among the players they had offered.
While RMC Sport haven’t named anyone, they reinforce that ‘several players’ have been offered, and City don’t want any of them, as they ‘would prefer’ to have Zaire-Emery.
It remains to be seen whether that will be the key to opening up the pursuit. It’s been stated PSG have put an ‘untransferable’ tag on their young star.
Liverpool in the mix
As such, it might be hard for anybody to be able to snare him. However, another Premier League side in the form of Liverpool will try.
Indeed, the report states the Reds are ‘very interested’ in Zaire-Emery. Midfield reinforcements are key for them this summer, with players in the centre of the park failing to pull their weight this season, and each of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner leaving the club.
Also mentioned are Borussia Dortmund, who have just sold Jude Bellingham for £88million and could use some of that cash on Zaire-Emery, as they want to ‘replace’ the Englishman with him.
In any case, it’s suggested there will be ‘no shortage of suitors’ for the PSG star, whether or not they’ll let him go.
