Spanish sources split over Prem destination for Ivan Rakitic

Ivan Rakitic is seriously considering a move to Liverpool this summer, according to a report.

The Barcelona midfielder faces an uncertain future at the Camp Nou and only last week he was linked with a move to Manchester United.

Now though Liverpool are preparing a big summer offer for Rakitic with the Croatian becoming increasingly concerned by his game time in Spain.

The 29-year-old has developed into a regular for Ernesto Valverde at the Camp Nou, but the potential arrivals of Antoine Griezmann and Gremio midfielder Arthure could limit his action next season.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon report there is strong interest from Liverpool with Rakitic set to consider his options in the summer.

Last week Diario Gol also claimed the player’s future was in doubt if Griezmann joined the Catalan club in a €100m summer deal.

They suggested the Atletico striker’s proposed movemay well see Philippe Coutinho being shifted into a midfield role, which in turn would see Rakitic missing out.

Per that source, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are at the head of the queue though for the player, who is under contract until 2021.

If he does decided to leave, Rakitic, who as made 42 appearances so far this season, will not be short of options with Jurgen Klopp prepared to offer a large chunk of the Philippe Coutinho money to secure Rakitic alongside Naby Keita next term.
