Louis Saha claims only one Man Utd player could win the Ballon d’Or

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has claimed that the club’s only current world-class player is midfielder Paul Pogba, who he thinks could potentially go on to win the Ballon d’Or in the future.

United signed Pogba for a then-world record fee of £89m from Juventus in 2016, and the Frenchman has scored 31 goals and assisted as many others in 146 appearances over two spells with the side.

Speaking to Astro SuperSport, Saha said that the World Cup winner – who has assisted two goals in four Premier League appearances so far this season – is a class above his teammates in the United camp.

“He’s got the potential to be one of the best – Ballon d’Or potential,” the former attacker said. “No disrespect to the other players but he could say ‘I’m the only one here who could claim to be a world-class player right now’.

“At the same time, he’s always going to be on the spot because he is the only one [world class player]. If he doesn’t perform there’s no-one that’s going to be asked more from. Pogba tries his best but sometimes there’s no-one there to help him.

“And who’s going to get criticised for not performing? It’s going to be Pogba.”

Pogba was named in the 2018/19 Team of the Season after scoring 13 goals in 35 Premier League games for United.
