Lovren: Liverpool must retain ‘winning mentality’
Dejan Lovren says Liverpool should be “very proud” after the win over Swansea rounded off a “great week” for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Reds saw off the struggling Swans courtesy of James Milner’s second-half penalty at Anfield, with the win coming after a 2-1 Europa League triumph Bordeaux and a stunning 4-1 rout of Manchester City in the last Premier League outing.
After an inconsistent start to Klopp’s reign, Liverpool now sit sixth in the Premier League, with qualification to the Europa League knockout stages also assured.
Lovren wants his team-mates to retain the focus that has brought three wins in eight days.
After the Swansea win, he told the club’s official website: “It was a tough game, especially playing against the wind.
“It wasn’t so easy but at the end the most important thing is that we got the three points.
“We’re moving higher in the table. It was a great week for us – winning against Manchester City, Bordeaux and now this one.
“We just need to keep working hard and to be patient. We expected a tough game against an opponent having problems. It was a deserved win.
“We showed our quality in defence and up front also. The most important thing is to keep the winning mentality. We’re doing a great job all together and we can be proud.”
