Luke Shaw close to escalating Mourinho row, as rivals log interest

Luke Shaw is close to complaining to Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward about his treatment by Jose Mourinho, according to a report.

Sky Sports yesterday claimed a ‘source close to Shaw’ had labelled his treatment by the Manchester United boss as “disgraceful” and now the Daily Mirror report the full-back is all set to make an official club complaint.

Shaw was once again left red-faced when Mourinho substituted him at half-time in the weekend’s win over Brighton, leading to claims in the Daily Telegraph that some United stars feel he is being “bullied” and singled-out by his manager.

Mourinho was seen shouting at Shaw during the first half before hooking him at the break, with the Portuguese later explaining he wanted his team “to defend better”.

United have already triggered the 12-month option on Shaw’s £70,000-a-week deal to make sure he is under contract until the summer of 2019, and must now decide whether to sell him in the summer or see him potentially walk away for free in 2019.

The Daily Mail reports Chelsea are leading the chase for the 22-year-old, and United will have a decision to make in the summer. Will they sell to a direct rival?

The report claims Shaw, who is a Chelsea fan along with the rest of his family, is likely to leave Old Trafford this summer, unless Mourinho goes before him.
