Newcastle plan to launch another striker bid but must raise offer to get it done

Eddie Howe of Newcastle

Newcastle are set to launch another move for Sassuolo striker Giacomo Raspadori but must raise their offer if they are to get a deal over the line in the summer.

The Magpies were keen on the 22-year-old striker in the January transfer window. An offer in the region £21m was made but it fell short of the Serie A side’s valuation. But that will not deter Newcastle who are tipped to make another move.

Tuttosport are claiming that interest in the player has ramped up to a new level. This has been sparked by Raspadori scoring a brace for Italy against Turkey on Tuesday night. Italy may not be heading to the World Cup but the future could still be a bright one.

Raspadori fired home either side of the break as Italy came from behind to win 3-2. The performance has kicked off rumours over his future and Newcastle are again in the frame.

Newcastle in the box seat

The reports in Italy say that Newcastle will make a new offer, but must improve it. They claim Sassuolo will not even entertain anything less than £25m. There is a chance the valuation could rise further in light of his brace for Italy.

Either way the figure should not be an issue for Newcastle. Eddie Howe will have a large transfer kitty in the summer and will be able to afford Raspadori.

Newcastle to make move for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr

Newcastle United are weighing up a move for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr but face competition for AC Milan

The problem could be competition from elsewhere. Tuttosport say that Juventus remain big admirers and want to strike a deal. Inter Milan are also in the hunt and Raspadori would be tempted. He would just have to decide whether or not he wants to stay in Italy or head to the Premier League.

Newcastle still appear to be in the box seat though say the Italian media. Juventus are trying to negotiate a loan deal with the option to buy. That is not going down well with Sassuolo who are only interested in a permanent deal.

Summer spree planned

Inter are said to be targeting Juve striker Paulo Dybala and Raspadori is a back-up option.

Howe splashed out in the region of £90m on new players in January. The spree is expected to move to the next level in the summer and Raspadori could be among the signings.

He has already chipped in with nine Serie A goals plus five assists this season. At 22 he has his best years ahead of him and the fee Sassuolo want could prove to be a snip.
