Tottenham goal machine Harry Kane resembled a certain Premier League legend despite being just a teenager during his time at Millwall, claims former teammate Maik Taylor.

England centre-forward Kane, 26, burst onto the scene during the 2014-15 campaign after making a splash in the early stages of the Europa League with seven goals in nine matches.

His European exploits meant he quickly usurped Spanish flop Roberto Soldado as the club’s premier striker, and since then, has gone on to become one of the Premier League’s great goalscorers.

Notching 136 times in less than 200 league appearances, Kane currently sits 13th all-time in the Premier League top scorers charts, though still has a long way to go to catch Geordie legend Alan Shearer (260).

And it is Shearer who former Millwall goalkeeper Taylor likened Kane to during his brief loan spell at The Den in he second half of the 2011-12 season.

Speaking to SPOX and Goal, Taylor said of Kane: “A friend of mine had a season ticket at Tottenham and had seen Harry at several Europa League games (in 2011).

“He told me: ‘The boy has everything. He’s going to be a really big one.’

“Harry already had a super left foot, a super right foot and a great header at the time.

“He actually had everything, he was like some kind of young Alan Shearer.

“His enthusiasm was incredible. He loved football more than anything and had a smile on his face in every training session and game.”

Rumours of a shock switch to Man Utd had been doing the rounds of late, though the Red Devils recently accepted defeat in their pursuit, opening the door to their rivals.

At 26-years-of-age, Kane is entering the prime of his career and Taylor points to one aspect of the striker’s lifestyle that could ensure he enjoys a long and fruitful career.

“He was always there during the team evenings, but he didn’t drink [alcohol] and went home early,” added Taylor.

“Harry is a family man.”

Meanwhile, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho’s stance on an Inter Milan veteran has potentially given Man Utd a free run at the former Diego Simeone favourite.
