Jordan Veretout’s agent has dropped a major hint that the midfielder will snub a move to Arsenal this summer in order to sign for Napoli instead.

Veretout has impressed this season for Fiorentina and has become one of the most consistent midfielders in Serie A. He made 33 appearances this season, scoring five goals and adding three assists.

It had been reported that Arsenal were preparing a late bid for the former Aston Villa man despite him being on the verge of signing for Napoli.

Unai Emery sees Veretout as the ideal replacement for the outgoing Aaron Ramsey who will join Juventus on a free this summer. A fee of around £20m is expected to be enough secure the midfielder.

Veretout’s agent Mario Giufreddi was talking to Radio CRC and spoke out about his future and responded to doubts over whether Veretout could play with Napoli’s Allan in midfield.

He said: “Veretout together with Allan? He can play, sure. Jordan has great quality, scores a lot and also shoots set pieces. He’s a sprinter, a sprinter, but I’m biased.

“The last three months of Fiorentina are not text, Jordan is one of the best in Europe. He has the quantity, quality and much more and he deserves a big club.”

AC Milan have also been linked with the Frenchman in recent months.
