Major Man Utd, Liverpool defensive target rules out €80m Serie A exit

A top Manchester United defensive target has ruled out a summer move to Old Trafford, despite being “proud” of their interest.

Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar is the player in question after revealing that he is happy to stay with the Serie A giants.

Skriniar joined Inter last summer from Sampdoria, and has rapidly become of Italian football’s most respected defenders.

The 23-year-old has been linked with Barcelona and Manchester United, having seen his market value almost quadruple in the space of a year, and he confirmed that the Premier League giants have made a concrete offer to his club.

Skriniar, who was also wanted by Liverpool and Manchester City, told the Slovakian Football Association’s website: “I am happy and proud to have been linked with Manchester United, but I’m even happier that Inter has decided to refuse their offer and I am very happy to stay here.”  (translation via Calciomercato).

The defender featured in every single game of Inter’s successful push to finish 4th in Serie A last season.
