Man City considering Napoli ace as short-term Mendy replacement

Manchester City are reportedly looking at Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam as a short-term replacement for the injured Benjamin Mendy.

Mendy could be out long-term after suffering a knee injury against Crystal Palace, leaving City short in the left-back area.

That has led to rumours that a replacement could be signed in January, and according to French publication Le Buteur that could be Napoli star Ghoulam.

It is not the first time that City have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, with former Etihad chief Manuel Pellegrini said to have been interested in the player back in 2015.

Ghoulam, who is also a reported target for Serie A champions Juventus, is out of contract next summer and has been in negotiations over a new deal for months.

However, it would appear that City are ready to swoop for a player they are set to face in a couple of weeks time when Napoli visit The Etihad in the Champions League.
