Eric Garcia could still leave Manchester City before the transfer deadline after Barcelona came to an agreement, according to reports.
Garcia does not intend to sign a new contract at City, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.
Barcelona are keen to re-sign the 19-year-old, who came through their academy before leaving for England three years ago.
However, they have been struggling to agree a fee with City, especially given that they could sign him for nothing next summer.
But there may have been another twist in his transfer saga. According to El Chiringuito, City have now reached an agreement with Barcelona.
Garcia exit depends on centre-back signing
The La Liga giants put €18m on the table, despite not wanting to go that high initially. City originally wanted to receive €20m, but now may have changed their mind.
City remain in the market for a new centre-back themselves. After growing frustrated in their pursuit of Kalidou Koulibaly, they have reportedly turned their attention to Sevilla’s Joules Kounde.
Once a new defender arrives at the Etihad, Garcia will now apparently be cleared to make the move back to his hometown club.
