Man City, Everton battling with Euro heavyweights for Bundesliga star

Manchester City and Everton are battling with Bayern Munich in a bid to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Dennis Geiger, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has been a Bundesliga regular since he broke into Hoffenheim’s first team in the 2017/18 campaign and has made 43 appearances in that time.

Geiger struggled with injuries last season and only made four league appearances but this term he has come back into the fold impressively, playing nine of his side’s 11 games with the club and chipping in with three assists.

Such form, according to Sport1, has alerted Everton and City to his services and the Premier League duo, as well as reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern, are all said to be keeping tabs on the player.

The report says that despite Everton investing heavily in their midfield during the summer – by making Andre Gomes’ loan move permanent and bringing in Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin – the trio are all suffering from injuries leaving the Toffees considering signing another addition in that area.

What’s more, City are said to be one step ahead of their rivals having already enquired about the potential of a deal being struck.

Alongside his club form, Geiger has also impressed on the international stage for his country having made his Germany Under-21 international debut in September.
