Manchester City are set to suffer another academy blow with midfield starlet Tom Dele-Bashiru set to walk away from the club this summer, TEAMtalk understands.
The 19-year-old has come through the youth ranks at the Etihad and, having trained with the first-team, is understood to be highly-rated by Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff.
However, sources have told TEAMtalk that his progress has been hampered by his lack of willingness to commit his future to the club – indeed he would have played against Burton in the League Cup late in the season, but the club’s hierarchy overruled it because he had not put pen to paper.
And now it seems their fears are set to be realised with the Manchester City player ready to jump ship this summer and seek a move to boost his fledgling career.
Now similar to what has happened with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Brahim Diaz – who the club lost as they forced a move away when not signing new deal – Dele-Bashiru is set to move.
City would be due compensation – but they have been left seething that another one of their top young prospects is set to walk away for a nominal fee.
There’s been no word on where the 19-year-old will move as of yet, but a switch abroad cannot be ruled out at this stage, given the success enjoyed by Sancho since switching to Borussia Dortmund.
