Five Man City first-team stars offered to Tottenham to secure Kane deal

Raheem Sterling Riyad Mahrez TEAMtalk

Manchester City have responded to Tottenham’s refusal of their £100m bid for Harry Kane by offering up five key players to feature in a player-plus-cash deal, according to reports.

It was reported on Monday that City put an official bid in for Kane of £100m with the “availability to include players in the deal”. However, Daniel Levy remained firm in his stance that he does not want to sell Kane this summer. With City now realising they will need to do more to achieve one of the biggest signings in footballing history, they are reported to have named five players who they would be willing to add to the deal.

According to the Daily Star, the five players are Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte, and Riyad Mahrez.

The ball is now back in Levy’s court as City wait to see if they can tempt him to sell his prized asset with their latest offer.

Their strong desire to secure Kane’s services is evident in the quality of the five players they have put up as possible sweeteners in the deal.

All but Laporte were regular first-team starters in last season’s title-winning campaign. The centre-back was kept out of the team for most of the season by the imperious duo of John Stones and Ruben Dias.

Jesus featured heavily in the absence of the then injured Sergio Aguero, the talisman who City are looking to replace with Kane. If it were to be Jesus included in the deal, then City would also need to look for a back-up striker to replace him too, though.

June 22 Transfer Chatter - Ronaldo to Barcelona, Juventus to sell Ramsey and Mourinho wants Rui Patrício

Barcelona president Joan Laporte wants to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, Aaron Ramsey's time at Juventus appears to be coming to an end and new Roma boss Jose Mourinho looks set to make a move for Wolves keeper Rui Patrício.

One of the five that it doesn’t look likely will be included is Sterling. He reportedly has no interest in heading to north London.

This transfer saga could soon reach a breaking point, with Levy not content with letting Kane go, and City seemingly unwilling to stretch much further than their current offer.

Kane must put aside transfer talk

Kane will have to maintain his focus on tonight as England take on Czech Republic in their final group game, despite the significant transfer talk surrounding his future.

Gareth Southgate confirmed his skipper would keep his place in the team after he came under-fire for his opening two performances of Euro 2020.

The uncertainty of his future was cited as a possible factor in the lack of impact that he had in the games against Croatia and Scotland.

Indeed, Roy Keane was one vocal critic of the ‘distracted’ Kane. But Southgate has stuck by his main man and will be hoping he can respond in kind and put the current links to City out of his mind.
