Man City strike €10m agreement for attacker but will have to wait for arrival

Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign Brazilian starlet Kayky from Fluminense, according to Fabrizio Romano.

City will be looking to the future in the summer transfer window. With Sergio Aguero on his way out and Fernandinho likely set to follow him, it seems they are trimming their squad of their older players. Then, they will turn their attention to bringing in young players for the future.

Aged just 17, Kayky fits that category. But he is already knocking at the door for senior action for Fluminense in his native Brazil.

The winger has made six appearances for Fluminense in the Rio De Janeiro State Championship, contributing two goals and one assist. Left-footed, he likes to cut in from the right wing to create danger.

He has already been compared to Neymar and it seems he has a bright future. Keen to capitalise on that, City are now believed to have reached an agreement for him.

According to transfer expert Romano, Kayky “will join” the Manchester club. Personal terms have already been agreed for a five-year contract.

There has also been a breakthrough with Fluminense, who will earn €10m from the transfer. There will also be add-ons and a sell-on clause in their favour.

Kayky will not become a City player until June 2022, though, meaning he has one more year to develop in Brazil.

When he arrives in Manchester next year, Kayky will initially join City’s youth teams. However, it seems they are hopeful of him progressing to become a first-team player in the future.

There had also been interest in Kayky from Spain, as well as City’s Premier League rivals Liverpool. City have managed to put together the most convincing package, it appears.

Pep Guardiola: Manchester City won't spend £100m right now

Pep Guardiola says he cannot imagine Manchester City spending more than £100m on any player at the moment, not even for the ‘exceptional’ talent of Erling Haaland.

Kayky was the top scorer in the Brazilian under-17 championship last year as Fluminense won the title. He also helped them to the final of the under-17 Brazilian cup, but they lost.

City are also believed to be in the hunt for Kayky’s teammate Metinho. However, there is no update on the midfielder’s situation yet.

Man City linked with Joao Felix

While Kayky would be one for the future, City have also been linked with a forward who could strengthen them immediately.

According to Todofichajes, City could be a potential suitor for former Benfica starlet Joao Felix, who is starting to lose his way at Atletico Madrid.

Felix has managed 10 goals this season, which is a good return. However, he has struggled to fully win over head coach Diego Simeone.

Therefore, he could be available for a transfer in the summer. In that event, City could consider a move for him.

However, he would not come cheap. Atletico spent a nine-figure sum on him in 2019, and wouldn’t want to lose too much. A price tag of €90 has been suggested.

But a move to City could inject new life into their attack and allow Felix himself to get back on track.
