Toni Kroos: Linked with Manchester United again

Pep Guardiola is reportedly ready to rival Manchester United for Toni Kroos amid claims the incoming Manchester City boss has signalled his interest in the wantaway Real Madrid star.

The Spanish side are reportedly ready to listen to offers for Kroos this summer after the Germany midfielder failed to settle in the Spanish capital – and it’s believed United were lining up a £30million approach.

But the Daily Mirror claims Kroos’ potential availability has also alerted City – and they are ready to match United’s bid.

Kroos played under Guardiola for a season at the Allianz Arena before departing for Madrid, and the paper claims the incoming City boss will hope he can persuade him to sign for City ahead of United.

Guardiola is also believed to have lined up a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan as he looks to remodel Man City’s central midfield next season, with Yaya Toure – and possibly one of Fernandinho or Fernando – also believed to be heading out of the Etihad this summer.

But the chance to land Kroos would be one Guardiola would be unwilling to pass up as the two Manchester clubs prepare for a potential battle over the player.
