Man United target ‘torn’ over his future; City urged to sign Mendy

Manchester City new boy Bernardo Silva claims that Monaco’s strike sensation Kylian Mbappe is unsure of his future, while he also wants one of his former team-mates to join him at The Etihad.

The Portugal playmaker became the first Monaco star to jump ship when he moved to City last week, while Manchester United are still believed to be plotting a big-money move for Mbappe.

Silva, who moved to City for a fee in the region of £43million, claims that 18-year-old Mbappe is torn over whether to stay at the club or move on this summer.

He said: “Honestly, I think even he does not know if he’s going to stay or go.

“He’s a fantastic player who had an incredible second half of the season. I think he is [happy] in Monaco, but if he goes to a big club to play, it’s also very good for him.

“He’s very young, and it would be nice to stay a year longer, but his age is incredible, so you never know.”

City, meanwhile, have also been linked with another raid on the Ligue 1 champions as they target two new full-backs.

And Silva believes £40m left-back Benjamin Mendy would be a brilliant addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad, according to the report in The Sun.

He added: “Benjamin Mendy is a friend and if he can play with me it’s better than against me.

“Especially as a left defender and me on the right or in the middle.”
