A suspension and injury crisis at Paris Saint-Germain means the French champions have emerged as strong contenders for Porto left-back Alex Telles, according to a report.
PSG have endured a tumultuous start to the new campaign, picking up only three points from three Ligue 1 games.
Indeed, their situation worsened after last Sunday’s heated defeat to Marseille. Left-back Layvin Kurzawa received a six-match ban for his involvement in the second-half fracas.
On Wednesday, however, fellow left-back Juan Bernat ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Metz. The Spaniard is likely to be absent for at least six months.
Telles, 27, was previously thought of highly by club officials, but the Brazilian had since been “forgotten” about.
Now, though, the player is in PSG’s sights once more as they look to find cover for the absent duo.
O Jogo adds that the French club have a “strong chance” at signing Telles, amid competition from Manchester United.
United are also reportedly keen to find reinforcements down the left flank. Sergio Reguilon was a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the Spaniard is close to sealing a move to Tottenham.
As such, Record claimed on Thursday that United also have a strong chance at signing Telles. Porto are reportedly keen to sell him for a fee while they still can.
The left-back’s contract runs out next summer and he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January.
However, United may now have to step up their interest if they are to beat PSG to his signing.
SOLSKJAER OFFERS LITTLE TRANSFER HOPE
Solskjaer was unable to offer much hope when asked about transfers in Friday’s press conference.
The Red Devils have only brought in Donny van de Beek so far this transfer window. Reports suggest a move for Jadon Sancho remains on the backburner.
However, the Old Trafford boss insisted fans would have to “wait and see” to see if the club make new signings.
