Manchester United will reportedly step up their interest in Roma winger Cengiz Under this weekend with the January transfer window looming.
The 21-year-old winger has been linked with Arsenal, Spurs and Bayern Munich in the past, but now a report claims Man Utd will scout him this weekend.
Turkish-Football claim a “source close to Cengiz Under” has revealed that scouts from United, Tottenham and Arsenal are all expected to watch Under on Friday when Turkey take on Sweden at the Yeni Eskisehir Stadium.
Calcionews24 recently claimed that Under’s suitors had been told by the Serie A club that they were holding out for a fee £44million for the forward, who has four more years on his contract in Rome.
Under has scored three goals and grabbed five assists in 14 appearances fro Roma this season and is believed to be one of the club’s lowest paid first-teamers.
Roma are still hoping to renegotiate Under’s contract, but the Serie A side will find life difficult, especially with so much interest in the Turkish starlet.
In September Under’s former president at Altinordu – Mehmet Ozkan – revealed interest from Bayern.
“Bayern Munich are following him [Under] very closely, and he could leave for an important transfer fee,” Ozkan told Turkish outlet takvim.com.tr.
And during an interview with Spor Arena Plus in April, the player revealed that he snubbed a move to Man City due to the persuasive powers of Roma director Monchi.
“I received an offer from Manchester City, but I did not agree terms with them,” Under said.
Under has collected 15 caps and scored four goals for Turkey and has been a regular starter for Mircea Lucescu on the right of an attacking three behind Cenk Tosun.
