Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hailed Russia star Aleksandr Golovin after their 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia.
The CSKA Moscow midfielder is expected to be one of host nation Russia’s key performers at the World Cup, and has been tipped for a summer transfer.
Against Saudi Arabia in the opening game of the 2018 World Cup, he scored once and provided two assists in an impressive display, with Mourinho in attendance.
“I think Alan Dzagoev was playing quite well, but when he came out, the fact that Golovin could go to a more central position, I think it helped the team,” Mourinho said.
“The team became better. Golovin is a playmaker, he’s a player that gives the dynamic of the team.
“Denis Cheryshev is a fast boy on the wing, more of a winger than Golovin, stretch the game more than Golovin, so I think the change worked perfectly.”
Earlier in the week it was reported that Golovin had been offered to Juventus, with the Russian club wanting a fee in the region of €25m.
