Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City’s hopes for Spain star ended
Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United target Thiago Alcantara looks set to stay with Bayern Munich this summer.
ESPN claimed yesterday that Manchester United and Chelsea had both enquired about signing the 27-year-old midfielder, while Barcelona have also been linked with him.
The same source claimed that the interest from the Premier League was the strongest, but Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed the Bundesliga champions have no intention of selling the Spain international.
“Thiago is an important player for us and we have never once articulated the thought that he should leave the club,” he told Abendzeitung.
“There has never been anything to the story whatsoever.”

Manchester United were reported to be “looking to kick-start a frustrating transfer window” by “considering deals for Robert Lewandowski and Thiago Alcantara”, according to the Independent last week.
And TEAMtalk sources then suggested City were in hot pursuit of the Spain central midfielder – a player Guardiola has tried and failed to sign on more than one occasion since arriving in England.
Now though it seems the Premier League clubs will have to look elsewhere.
