Man Utd, City facing blow as Arsenal make decision on contract rebels

Arsenal are only prepared to sell one of their contract rebels in the January transfer window, according to reports.

Both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are out of contract next summer, prompting plenty of speculation about the futures of both players.

Manchester City remain keen on a move for Sanchez, having missed out on the Chile star last summer, while Manchester United, Barcelona and PSG are all said to be keeping tabs on Ozil’s situation.

It had been suggested that the Gunners were ready to cash in on both players in January, rather them let them leave for free, but the Daily Star claims that only one of them will be allowed to leave before the end of the current campaign.

Despite the club being keen on keeping both of their top stars, the report goes on to state that Ozil will be allowed to leave for a fee of around £30million, meaning that Sanchez will have to wait until the summer to finally make his expected exit.

Indeed, speaking after the north London derby win over Totteham last weekend, Wenger admitted: “I am convinced they love the club, they love the team.

“But I am long enough in the job to know wins like this are not enough. The quality of the contract has to be good enough for them as well.

“There are other clubs out there who can offer good contracts as well.

“The contract is part of it, the whole thing has to be right, they have to be happy.”

Despite Wenger’s hopes it would appear that Arsenal will start next season without Sanchez and Ozil in the their line-up, while the latter may not last long into the New Year if the right offer comes in.
