Man Utd close to €12m deal for winger who faced them in Europa League

Manchester United have agreed to sign Filip Stevanovic from Partizan Belgrade, according to reports in Serbia.

Stevanovic has risen to prominence in the Partizan first team since making his debut in December 2018. Last season, he scored nine goals in 35 appearances.

The 17-year-old has also made his debuts for Serbia’s under-19s and under-21s over the past couple of years. And his rapid rise could continue with a move to the Premier League.

According to Republika (via Sport Witness), Manchester United will sign Stevanovic for €12m. The teenager will spend the 2020-21 season on loan with his current club, Partizan.

United faced Partizan in the Europa League group stages this season, giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the chance to see the player in action. Stevanovic featured in both games between the two sides.

Now, Partizan have decided to cash in on the winger. Even though they think he could be worth more in the future, they see this as a good chance to raise funds. He has just two years left on his contract.

Stevanovic became the youngest player to score in a UEFA competition for Partizan last August. He netted his first goal for the club aged just 16, against Welsh side Connah’s Quay.

One year later, he could be ready to make a big move to United – even if he will have to wait a little longer for his opportunity at Old Trafford.

United are also looking to loan out Dean Henderson once again this summer. The goalkeeper has spent two years at Sheffield United, but United cannot guarantee he would be number one ahead of David De Gea if he returned.

Therefore, they are set to give him a new contract before loaning him out again. However, it may not be back to Bramall Lane – nor to Premier League rivals Chelsea.
