Man Utd consider move for out-of-favour Barca defender

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Barcelona defender Marc Bartra, who could be available for £10million.

The Spain centre-back has struggled to break into the Barca side, with Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano in fine form.

Bartra has started only three Primera Division matches this season, which The Sun claims has alerted Ed Woodward to the 25-year-old’s possible availability.

United are in dire need of defensive reinforcements, with injuries having ravaged Louis van Gaal’s squad, especially at the back.

Chris Smalling and Daley Blind have been Van Gaal’s first choice pairing but the Dutchman has been unable to rely on Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo due to injuries.

United are reportedly willing to pay £10million for Bartra, who was omitted from Barca’s 19-man squad which travelled to London for the Champions League clash with Arsenal this week.
