Man Utd defender reveals desire to leave club in damning interview

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has confirmed his desire to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Darmian was made United captain by Jose Mourinho during their midweek friendly against AC Milan, but has struggled for game time since his arrival from Torino.

Juve appear to have edged ahead of fellow suitors Inter Milan and Roma in the race to land Darmian, who admitted earlier this year that he is missing his home country.

It is believed that United are still seeking €20m for the 28-year-old defender – some distance more than the €12-€13m Juve are thought to have offered.

The player meanwhile has re-iterated his desire to seek pastures new this summer.

He said: ”I want to play more regularly. Last season, I didn’t play much, that’s my objective and my ambition.

“That’s why I spoke with the manager and also with the club about my future.

“I want to leave but we will see what happens because we don’t know.”
