Man Utd eye Juventus full-back; Darmian could head other way
Two Serie A clubs are battling it out for Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian, according to reports from Italy.
Calciomercato.com claims that Roma and Juventus are still tracking the full-back with an eye to a potential move in January.
The report claims that Chelsea and Manchester United are chasing Juve left-back Alex Sandro and with Stephan Lichtsteiner also possibly on his way out, the Serie A champions have targeted Roma’s Emerson Palmieri as a replacement.
The capital club would demand a fee of around €25million for his services, and should Juve fail with this bid, Darmian is a possible alternative along with Hector Bellerin and Thomas Meunier.
Roma meanwhile are set on a January move for Darmian, believing he is an ideal replacement for summer signing Rick Karsdorp, who is out with a long-term injury.
The Giallorossi are aiming to make the Champions League knockout stages in order to get a welcome cash bonus, but should they fail, their director Monchi will look at cheaper alternatives in the likes of Barcelona’s Aleix Vidal and Atletico Madrid’s Sime Vrsjalko.
