Julian Draxler: Manchester United reported to have made approach

Manchester United are reported to have identified Julian Draxler as a possible alternative to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, while talks over Paul Pogba continue.

The Observer says United are hopeful of agreeing a deal to sign Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund in the next seven days, but the Daily Star Sunday claims the Premier League club have held talks over a £30million deal for Draxler, though Wolfsburg are determined to hold on to their prized asset.

The Sunday Telegraph, meanwhile, reports United remain in talks with Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, about re-signing the Juventus midfielder this summer.

With Manchester City baulking at the cost it would take to sign the 23-year-old, and Barcelona’s interest waning, it could be a straight fight between United and Real Madrid, but Juve will only sell for a world-record fee. Pogba could even become the first £100million footballer once add-ons and agent fees are factored in, it is claimed.

The prospect of working with Mourinho appeals to Pogba, the newspaper claims, and though the France star still harbours some reservations about returning to Old Trafford four years after his acrimonious exit, it is thought he would agree to the move should his salary demand of £9.75 million after tax per year be met.

Morgan Schneiderlin, meanwhile, is reported to be a target for new Everton boss Ronald Koeman, who worked with the Frenchman at Southampton.
