Man Utd face prospect of finding new suitor for star as Lazio go cold on deal
Manchester United are facing the prospect of having to find a suitor for Andreas Pereira this summer, with Lazio reportedly unlikely to sign him permanently.
The midfielder has been out on loan at the Serie A side this season, having struggled to earn a starting spot under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Argentine has made 21 appearances across all competitions for Lazio, having played a number of different positions.
However, the majority of those games have come off the bench, with Pereira making just two league starts.
The 25-year-old was allowed to move on last summer as Solskjaer looked to begin a rebuild of his midfield.
The rebuild has yet to take shape, with the Red Devils boss rotating his options throughout the current season.
But it would appear that Pereira has no future at Old Trafford. That would explain United’s decision to agree to a loan to buy deal with Lazio.
The asking price has been set at €25million (£21m), but is seems that price is too rich for the Italian outfit – as reported in the Daily Star.

As a result, United will have to try and shop him around in order to recoup a decent fee.
The Red Devils are looking to raise funds as Solskjaer gears up for a big spend this summer.
A new centre-back partner for Harry Maguire and a world class No.9 remain their top priorities.

Pundit claims Haaland deal looks unlikely
Andy Cole says that Manchester United are likely to face disappointment in their pursuit of Erling Haaland this summer because their pulling power has diminished.
United are understood to be looking at adding a striker and a defender this summer. And Haaland has been mooted as the man Solskjaer wants after missing out on the striker in January 2020.
United though apparently baulked at the fee his agent Mino Raiola wanted. Instead the Norwegian secured a move to Borussia Dortmund for just £17.2m.
Furthermore, it’s claimed Ed Woodward was opposed to the insistence of the Haaland camp that a release clause be inserted into his Old Trafford contract.
Solskjaer though has publicly admitted he is still “following” the former Molde man. While last week he added: “I keep in touch with Erling. It is great to see him become the player he has become.”
Chelsea and Manchester City are also understood to be keen on the 20-year-old, while Real Madrid are another side who could look to prise the forward away from Germany.
Former United striker Cole though thinks United face an uphill battle to sign Haaland. Read more…
