Derby day defeat

Got tactics wrong today. Played into City’s hands. Zero pressing from us and total pressing from them. Lukaku did nothing apart from the pen but we’ll put that down to adrenaline. Wide players just spent the whole game defending.

Worry is that lukaku will be straight back in now next game and it’ll be back to the usual sh*t.

manthistle

Jose can moan all he wants but he’s spent sh*t loads of money on players who aren’t good enough and the coaching of this team is a disgrace. The gulf in class is enormous. Does anyone recognise any gameplan or tactics coming out of that game? Shambolic would be generous. Disgusted.

12 League games played and 12 points off top spot, 7 from top 4 and 12 from the relegation places. A pretty fair reflection of our season to date as we rub shoulders with the likes of Bournemouth, Watford, Everton and Leicester.
Our dreadful and haphazard recruitment continues to confound with a 30m plus central defender and a 50m plus central midfielder kept out of the side by Smalling and Fellaini respectively.
I would not give JM any funding until deadweights are moved on.

moral

Men against boys at times, but why do we wait until it’s 1-0 before we start playing?

Bernardo Silva is a winger playing in central midfield and he put our lads to shame, was putting in more tackles than our lads.

Didn’t expect a win, but I did expect more effort.

That’s because Bernardo Silva’s talented. He’s comfortable with the ball at his feet and he’s just one of many in the City team. As for us, you’ve got to question just how little genuine talent we have, especially without our one truly talented player, Pogba.

The thing that p*ssed me off the most was the approach. We’ve not played great of late but dug out some good results. That has improved the confidence and atmosphere around the club. We’re not expected to win the game so why not go out and have a go. They had Fernandinho and four wingers in the front 6. Why not try and match them up and play. We’re not at their level but setting up the way we did was a f**king disgrace. So negative and defeatist its not even true.

Mourinho was asked about winning things in a negative style in recent press conference and his eyes lit up and he was so empathetic about it being possible. And that is why we’ll never go anywhere under him. Its so obvious all the work done is on structure and defensive shape. After watching that i have to admit i don’t want him at the club anymore. Hiding behind spending is a f**king joke. He has had three years and we’re no further along. Simply not good enough

I said it before the odd big win in a season yields two steps back, especially in our case. This season is heading to a complete car crash write off!!! I swear if there was a purge tonight I’d go after the glazers ed and Jose then some of the players in that order.

Sadly this requires new ownership new management new players! I don’t trust any of them. Periera Bailly ? Tut sigh what has he turned us into.

United_we_win

What struck me the most about today was just how well coached the City players are compared to ours. Sterling is good but he’s no better then Martial, Rashford or Sanchez. When he was clean through and messed up showed that. But Pep has coached him brilliantly. Where to run, when to run, where to move, when to pass, etc. If our players were coached like that we’d be 100% better.

Our performance was just about the same as when we beat City on their patch earlier this season. Difference is Pogba wasn’t there to give us a bit of edge and City were more clinical with their finishes – giving De Gea no chance.

City are better than us and we can’t really expect to beat them since that 6-1 at Old Trafford so that’s that really.

The table says we are fighting for a Europa League spot but I feel like the team has a bit of siege about them despite the questionable quality of players, tactics, and management. We are not good enough but we aren’t really rubbish either.

So there we have it, we are quite average and at least have got through the last couple of weeks with respect – we have played against Chelsea, Juventus, and Manchester City away from home. 1 draw, one loss, and one win with decent performances throughout considering the quality of our squad.

Our next 3 fixtures are against Palace, Young Boys, and Southampton so I am sure results will improve but I am still not happy about the state of the club strategically. We need a DoF in place who can either sack Mourinho or sanction the signings he wants.

Since Fergie left three different managers still persist with Fergie´s old squad.
Jones,Smalling,Young Valencia are still here and large part of our starting back4.
Carrick is replaced with a slow oaf like Matic. Fred,Herrera are not United material.
Lukaku and Sanchez should be sold as soon as possible.
The only good thing Mourinho has done is getting rid of Rooney but the signing of Sanchez is a new Rooney fault.

I dont trust Mourinho as a manager. Outplayed by lesser teams is not the dna of Man United and neither is dire football.
Appoint a DoF is the most important thing reclaiming our dna and to get back to the top. Very important to get the right man for this.

Getting over the line

Had money on Liverpool to win and Shaqiri to score so happy man.

Happy with the result, not particularly happy with the performance.
Thought our finishing was poor and our link up play still needs work.
Still don’t have that cutting incisive passing we seen last season.
Still think we’re a bit sloppy but a wins a win.

gingerlfc

We had a really good spell between 15-25 mins, roughly. In this time I really thought we were going to blow them away. The balls through and over their defence were finding the runs and things were pretty fluid, with, playing at a high tempo. Fulham then got a chance or two and we seemed to drop down a gear. We were lucky not to concede and luckier again that our goal came on the break from the offside incident but that wasn’t the only good chance they had. Sessengon flashed one wide when he might have been able to beat Alisson, who did make a really good dive down and across now, in fairness. So… It was touch and go then after a short spell of high level dominance.

Was good to see us add to that and happy that it was Shaqiri who scored it. Not conceding is always good and it’s job done, even if overall, it wasn’t the greatest match ever. It’s three points again and over to city now.

MrMakaveli

Job done,  3 points, clean sheet, on to the next game.

However it was a nervy first half, but this should be resolved going forward now that we have our five main midfielders back with the ntense competition for places. Hope they all come through the international break unscathed.

Motm Robbo easily, TAA could learn from him on how to not be sloppy giving the ball away so often

Songman

Decent win in the end and really comfortable. Showed signs of some nice moves and on another day could have had a few more.

Need the scum and the bitters to do us a favour over the next couple of hours.

hopefully no injuries over the internationals!!

redwarrior

Main thing we won & three points, but another fractured performance.

I’ve read enough about the fact is we are not playing well, what if this continues???
Defence on the whole play well, but TAA corners were terrible. Midfield Fabinho & wiji too many sideways passes & no production. On to Firmino, I used to call him Mr 1 in 5 now it’s 0 in 5 , how he keeps his place is beyond me, Lovren can make a mistake & all have a go at him, yet Firmino getaway with it,” he has played too much”, “is tired & needs a rest” etc., Mane disappeared in the 2nd half. Shaqiri surely deserves a continued starting place.
Agreed we were lucky getting our first goal with the very marginal offside decision, it is about time these marginal offsides be given to the attacker.

Remember this result was against against the poorest team & by far the worst defence in the PL, so no one should be happy with this result. If we continue to play as poorly as this we will not make top 4

liverlad

Very happy with that in the end especially another clean sheet

We need a bit of perspective. The football is not the same but it’s there in glimpses. Not so long ago we were really struggling to break down teams like this who have ten players behind the ball.

Keita has still to get going. Fabhino is getting going now. We are solid at the back. We have dropped 6 points and are undefeated . They are exceptional stats.

Shaqiri has been brilliant. Great position going into international break.

Main concern is Firmino who is playing poorly at the min. Very sloppy

Two smashing goals from us today and much better 2nd half performance

Sean the Sailor

Guys there was not a player on the pitch that created more chances than Bobby. He is not getting into the right positions but he is creating a lot around him. 5 chances created in this game alone in a deeper position than last season…
Its was good to see Jordan, his range of passing brings something more to the team, we are quicker on the counter with him. He is slowly learning the deep playmaker role.
Man of the match for me was Shaqiri…

NotoriousBingo

Decent result. Fulham will feel aggrieved about the offside but it balances out the disallowed goal we had last week. Well taken goal from Salah & also Shak. I hope he will be a regular starter from here on in. Downside is City brushed aside Utd. with ease & just aren’t dropping points, though Chelsea drew. We’ve got to keep winning to keep in touch with the top of the table. Ynwa

Pointing the finger

Remember a few years ago, when we use to loathe wenger for finishing in the top 4 as an achievement. Now we have gone so backwards that fans would definitely consider finishing in the top 4 as an achievement. It’s all happening under kronke’s leadership. No matter what bullsh*t anyone feeds you,you cannot succeed without an ambitious owner. And kronke is not ambitious, in fact it would seem he cares one bit about the club.He has made some terrible appointments at the corporate level and of course he needs to be held responsible.Self sustaining club or not,you simply need to have an ambitious owner to succeed. You look at City, their owner allegedly(We all know it’s true) has actually paid for sponsorships from his own pocket. So like i said,if the owner really wants to win, he will find a way. You look at everton,I think they’re a much changed team from last season, they’ve made some brilliant and shrewd signings many of whom we could’ve gotten. From richarlison, bernard, yerry mina all of whom I’d happily have taken at Arsenal.

Oh but Arsenal what’s happening here? It’s an absolute circus. Many of our players being massively overpaid, our transfer business and negotiations are terrible. All these years we’ve sold our best players for way below their value to direct rivals.and now for someone in Ramsey who wants to stay we are pushing him out even though the deal makes no sense whatsoever because to get in a replacement for a player of his quality would basically cost the same as paying him the wages that were apparently agreed and pulled off the table.

Our rivals have gotten relatively stronger, you look at spuds who haven’t signed a single player this summer and are still above us.They’ve slowly overtaken us over the years and people still don’t realise it.I think we’ll finish outside the top four yet again, mostly because our squad is not as strong as people think and we lack balance which cannot be made up by playing two out and out strikers together!
And now one player in welbeck who was actually able to provide us the width is injured now. It’s a joke and embarrasment that we’ve not signed a winger and certain other players

As for emery, he’s a good manager I’ve always maintained that but until I see a change in mentality I’ll never be convinced.Even though we have some tough players, we still seem that soft side who are looking to make friends on the pitch. We are still too innocent on the field, and lack that top desire to win decisions and the game.So it certainly needs improving, which I’ve not seen up until now.

Chelsea drop points

Very disappointing draw. There is no point in witch hunting some players. The damage has already been done. Every attacking player was guilty. We can’t try to have a pop at someone when they haven’t scored but never aknowledged when they had been scoring. Football is a team game and every plays its part. I’m disappointed with the two points we had dropped today. When Sarri says we are not contenders he means it, he sees something we don’t see. Now the International break is up on us. Then next is Spurs. There is something we are lacking which is important. And that is the ability to win without being at our best which Spurs and Liverpool and Arsenal are doing these days.

Alvaro Morata TEAMtalk

“When Sarri says we’re not contenders he means it he sees something we don’t see” I’m not sure that’s true yb I think the majority of Chelsea fans certainly the majority on here acknowledged at the beginning of the season that top 4 was our most realistic target rather than the title and on current form we are on for accumulating 88 points which would historically be enough to secure a top 4 place.

I’m sure Sarri is aware where we need to improve but he’s only been at the Club less than 4 months yet he’s already getting criticised by some despite setting a new PL unbeaten record for a new Manager.

Are we as clinical as City no not by a long chalk but they are a long way ahead of us in both squad quality and team development and Pep has been there over two seasons now not 4 months and Klopp has been at it for over 3 years at Liverpool and is only now really getting things right.

Rome wasn’t built in a day fellas, we should have won today but Everton are no mugs and fortunately United lost and Arsenal dropped two points like us scrambling a last minute draw.

Personally I would say we’re further advanced than I thought we would be playing under a new Manager in a completely different style all in under than 4 months.

nine nine nine

Just to add, we are currently keeping up with some very good teams. I watch the spurs the other night and I have to say I was impressed by them, easily our most advanced rivals. Theyre currently where they are with Kane out of sorts, No Ali or Eriksen and have lost Dembele… theyre still up there with us who have had a flat out start to the season.

City are simply on another level, Liverpool are looking the real deal this year too. Think it’s a race between us, united and Spurs for the two champions league spots.

Absolutely delighted with the start to the season and with the way things are going. Thursday night football sucks for the weekend games but we have to find a way forward.. Sarri believes its the players approach so he has some ideas on how to improve things.

Vastly improved, Everton were determined and got what they wanted. Shame, we should have had the three points but remain unbeaten. Cant ask for much more than that.

Romansdirtypants

Another game for me where we did not start well and had to work our way into the game…?

Thought it was pretty even and Everton were much better than I expected and at least tried to take the game to us. Overall I think we shaded it but disappointed with the number of times that Morata goes down and is caught offside – he is becoming predictable in looking for free kicks and I suspect that the referees association are becoming aware of his antics

Thought we coped well defensively especially after Mina was picked to start as expected them to have height advantage for set pieces but in general we did well

Pickford did well and felt that Alonso was very unlucky a couple of times but overall we were slightly lacking. Cannot complain too much as we always expected to face some hiccups along the way but at least finished unbeaten and no one overtook us in the league

Hope the players get a decent break as the next game could well be defining in terms of the league placings. KTBFFH
