Liverpool’s leadership problem

Looking at the next 5-7 games doesn’t fill me with confidence. Ya, it’s good that our forwards have scored in the internationals but we’ve not played anywhere near our potential so far and that’s a big concern for me. I don’t want to hear arguments about points as a counter, they could easily have gone the other way. We’ve ridden our luck so far but that runs out. You need to have a strong team “personality” to continue winning games in the PL and I don’t feel that we have that. We’ve got to come out of our shell immediately against Spurs and manage to do the same against PSG, Chelsea, Man City etc…

I’m just not convinced that our pre-season preparations were any good. It seems like we’re actually in it right now and not competitive matches. Maybe Buvac’s leaving is the result. The guy was meant to be one of the bets in the business at his job. As right hand man to Klopp, he’s got to have been important.

I worry about the Buvac factor.

Is he gone? I haven’t heard an official statement on it, maybe I missed it. I would prefer that whatever has been going on, can be fixed and we can continue on the path forward that this club has been working on. Whatever’s happened, can it not be resolved?

People were incorrectly calling the previous matches “must win games” and before anyone gets their back up, I’m not slighting ye for saying it, I know the reasoning behind it. I just didn’t agree. However, some of the ones coming are definitely a lot closer. I still wouldn’t call them must wins… but I would say that it’s important to not lose them. I’m just not confident tho.

I’ve thought about the Spurs game a lot. I don’t agree with Sean in saying that a draw would be huge. A draw for us is almost never huge. I will say though that I think we’ll lose. I just don’t think we’re clicking at all this season and the few good performers out there won’t be enough to hold off Spurs.

MrMakaveli

We are devoid of leaders in midfield and up top. The Leicester game proved this when Wijnaldum lost the ball in midfield, and we lost control of the game thereafter, with nobody taking charge or picking up the pieces. We really need Fabinho and Keita up and running in midfield as soon as possible because I see no other potential candidates in midfield who could take charge in such circumstances.

Mikus

Wijnaldum isn’t a leader, that’s true but he’s been one of our best players over the 4 games. It’d be nice for Keita to come in and add some steel but he’s been poor. Settling him in will be a process, like Fabinho but I guess in his case it was more obvious to Klopp.

I think Spurs might be too soon to expect a performance from either/both but you never know when things might click. This is what we can hope for.

I mean, you can’t fault FSG and Klopp for what they’ve tried to do with our midfield.

MrMakaveli

I agree Mikus about leaders. “Leaders” doesn’t always means shouting and finger pointing/jabbing. It can also mean someone who is confident on the ball, someone with above average technique who knows he has the ability to change a game with his off the ball movement and on the ball ability. This is why I don’t go overboard with players like Henderson. They are important to have for sure as they are hardworking and committed players, every title-winning team needs one or two like that. But When I see a midfield of Gini, Hendo and Milner I say a little prayer. Keita and Fabinho are definitely going to be leaders with regard to being able to take scruff of a game, even when things go badly as they do even to good teams/players.

I really don’t think keita has been poor at all and I don’t think we have been near as bad as you are saying. Keita was excellent v west ham and did ok v Brighton. The lad needs time but he’s going to get so much better. He has to start sat.

We were very good v west ham. We should have beaten Brighton by more and it was a very good professional performance v place. Leicester was poor but come on.

I fear spurs out of all these games. It’s a huge few weeks. There is no doubt we can and we will get better. Just not confident about a 12.30 kick off and Kane usually has a field day againest us.

We have had the perfect start. Everything is positive. Just get through sat unbeaten and I really think we will kick on then. I’m very confident we will beat PSG but say is a huge test

Sean the Sailor

Joe has been training with Kane so that might count for something and Van Dijk might have something to say about the game. I reckon we can take this but I would settle for a 0-0 draw right now. We need something positive out of the game to keep the good feel factor going, I think the lads can dig deep and find it as long as we can focus on one thing at a time.

Paul or Jose?

Sell Pogba for a gazillion pounds, if anybody is willing to pay it, and use the money to build next summer. He quite clearly doesn’t give two fucks about Manchester United Football Club and the sooner he is gone the better. The dickhead.

What’s the point in going out with a supermodel if she won’t even suck your c*ck?

Wonderfuel Gas

Between Jose and Pogba, who do you think the club will choose???

redblood

It has to be Mourinho or the club is f*cked mate. For a long long time.

Pogba isn’t all that anyway. Wouldn’t have him in the top twenty midfielders that I’ve watched play for this wonderful football club of ours.

Wonderfuel Gas

Jose and Pogba both need to go.

mufc

I think Ozil is right up Man U and Mourinho’s street, I will drive him there myself! 😉

Chelsea’s new look

Been getting some updates that apparently Roman has approved a change in the current crest design to make it more up to date. The report I got also claimed that his visa is now being actioned and so he is looking at the new stadium again

Absolutely no idea how accurate this is but would be good news all round in terms of his on-going commitment to the Club (not sure about the crest but wait to see the “modern” design…?) KTBFFH

CFC1905

As long as we retain the Chelsea lion in the crest it’s ok with me.😊

I like our current crest. Way better than the previous one with a ‘real’ lion with CFC letters. I hope that the modernization of the crest design won’t change too much of the actual crest. But yes, good news indeed, Abramovich seems to be as committed as ever to the club.

Is Roman connected to the club good news? I don’t know myself but under a British billionaire the club have more freedom and more riches to advance even further. I am a big Roman fan but that’s where we could be under Ratcliffe. As far as the crest is concerned there is no better symbol than a Lion.

Spurs’ stadium woes

City Doing what the Spuds wont….. and having to play 3 games in 6 days now? If this was Man U and Maureen the stink would be so much more i think (nothing against united in this case, its just we know Maureen would slaughter both the spuds and Levy!)

steveosnakeeye

very surprised the Premier League have let Spurs get away with this.

NOLU

Approved: Mayor of London Boris Johnson gives go ahead

To be fair to Spurs building work always runs behind and this is an enormous project.

Perhaps Levy was too optimistic and there are reports of Spurs making demands of their contractors that they’ve struggled to get anywhere near fulfilling so perhaps Levy’s view on when the new ground might be ready was over optimistic.

The most sensible thing now is for Spurs to go back to Wembley for the season but where compensation is due to fans and principally City fans that should be paid for by Spurs and not City.

Moving the City fixture from the Sunday to the Monday at Wembley was the only sensible conclusion it does add extra pressure on City re playing 3 games in 6 days rather than in 7 days but I’m sure they can cope with that albeit a Monday not being an ideal day for City fans to come down to London. I do think the PL needs to get involved though and say to Spurs if you’re new ground is not available by this date then you have to play all your home games at Wembley during this season.

I don’t agree with points deductions which tampers with the credibility of the League and hits the innocents in all of this which are the Spurs players , fans and Pochettino and his Coaches.
